This is the web site of Oadby Evangelical Free Church in Leicester, UK. It has been written by the webmaster using basic html coding. It is intended to be a simple but attractive layout which can be viewed by as many browsers as possible.
This is now the 3rd design of the church web site, and it is once again very different from the previous ones. This time the main navigation tools are down the left hand side of the page rather than across the top and bottom. Also each section now has another list of links that are relevant to it which may be other pages, external links or downloads. There are also some new features including an archive of all the past motto text cards, meanwhile some of the resources have been removed from the site as have some old pages that are no longer applicable. Once again the site includes a glossary so that those who are less familiar with some of the terms that are used can get a link to what I hope is a useful definition.
The design of the site is all my own work, and some of the wording is as well, but much of the detail on the specific events or areas of OEFC's work is written by those directly involved, so that it is as accurate as possible. Many of the pages containing information about the people and events have also been updated. In places I have acknowleged those who have contributed to the site and where the resources are based on the work of others, I have again tried to acknowledge the fact. If I have used anything that belongs to someone else and I have not stated so, then it is unintentional and I apologise.
The result of the decision not to use advanced web design features, is that there are limits to the design. I believe this is the right thing to do as it is the message and content of the site that is far more important than the presentation.
I suppose that the general aim of the site is to be attractive, and to give an accurate picture of what the church is all about - including our beliefs and a taster of the things that we do. I also wanted to provide some resources that may allow others to understand the Christian faith more clearly. I also feel that it is good to try and allow a visitor to this site to have some familiarity with the people that they may meet at Oadby Evangelical Free Church if they came to one of our events - to which they are very welcome!
Your comments on whether I have achieved this or not, and suggestions for the continued development of the site are, as always, more than welcome.
