I was born in India into a Sikh family and came to England in 1960. Having attended Secondary Modern School and a College of Further Education, I was employed in the engineering industry as a Design Draughtsman.
On coming to England, I was introduced to a local church where I learned about God and Jesus Christ and the reason why Jesus came to earth to die and how he rose again from the dead. These stories fascinated me but in reality they did not mean a great deal to me until one night that message was very personal to me. It was that night I realised that we have all sinned and that one day we will have to stand before God and give an account of our lives before him. The reason why Jesus came to earth was to take the punishment of our sins when he died on the cross so that we can present ourselves faultless before God.
It was also at that church where I met my present wife, who is a teacher and teaches in a Special Needs School. We have three daughters, two of them are married and the youngest is currently studying at Oxford Brookes University.
In 1984, I decided to have a career change and came to Leicester to study Social Work. I am still employed by Social Services as a Manager.
As a family we have been attending Oadby Evangelical Free Church for the past 16 years. We are well settled and enjoy the fellowship and the friendliness of the church.
